Shopify is a powerful platform for e-commerce businesses of all sizes. And when integrated with Textedly, it's easier than ever to send automated SMS messages to your customers!
Today we’ll cover:
SMS integration is the process of connecting an API (Application Programming Interface) to an SMS message sending software to allow a computer to send messages on your behalf — as opposed to sending messages manually.
In this case, you’ll use Zapier (the API) to connect your Shopify account with your Textedly account. This ultimately allows you to send SMS messages to your customers directly from Shopify.
It’s a great way to stay in touch with your customers and keep them updated on your latest products and promotions. Plus, it's an easy way to increase sales and boost customer loyalty!
Now, let’s dive right in. Here's how to send SMS from Shopify in just a few easy steps.
If you don’t already have one, you'll need to create a Textedly account. It’s easy to set up a free trial of Textedly to see if you like how these two platforms work together. Once you log in, set up your SMS campaigns before you start working on connecting to Shopify.
If you connect with Zapier, it’ll be easier to move information between the two apps. In the lefthand navigation menu, find “App Tools” near the bottom of the list. Scroll through your apps and find “Zapier”. Click “Activate for Free”.
Then, go back to “App Tools”, and find “Shopify Integration”.
Once you click on the app, you’ll see a screen that prompts you to “Activate this App.” Go ahead and click here to get things going.
When you activate “Shopify Integration,” you’ll see a screen that contains your Zapier API key. Use that key to link Shopify to Zapier.
From this point, you can start setting up your workflows and customizing things to your liking! In Zapier, automated workflows are called “Zaps.” These workflows connect your apps to automate repetitive tasks and put more time back into your day.
A “trigger” is an event that starts a Zap, and an “action” is an event a Zap performs. We’ll discuss this in more detail below. Once you activate Shopify, Textedly will walk you through making a Zap in a step-by-step process.
Shopify allows businesses to create an online store where they can list products, collect online payments, and ship goods to their customers. There are many reasons why companies choose to use Shopify over other e-commerce platforms. Here are just a few:
When you connect Shopify to an SMS service like Textedly, you open a world of possibilities. The combination makes it possible to send customers automatic texts when they trigger an event on your online store.
As a reminder, Zapier defines a “trigger” as an event that starts a Zap (or automated workflow), and an “action” is an event a Zap performs. For example:
Trigger: A customer abandons their cart
Action: Textedly automatically sends the customer a text that nudges them to complete their purchase.
Trigger: A new customer places an order for the first time
Action: Textedly automatically sends the customer a welcome message with a promo code for their next purchase.
Keep in mind that the automatic text is something you can fully customize! Check out these e-commerce text message templates for ideas on how to put together your automated messages.
